After treating his fans with three releases last year, Shah Rukh Khan is back to win them over again in 2024. However, this time it will be his voice that will do the trick in Disney’s much anticipated upcoming film – Mufasa: The Lion King. On Wednesday, the makers of the film released a new promotional video featuring SRK, in which the King of Bollywood can be seen drawing parallels between his journey of rising to superstardom against all odds, with that of Mufasa braving all hardships and becoming the lion king.

The one minute eight second long promo video begins with Shah Rukh saying that this is the story of a king who gets loneliness in inheritance. But immense passion flowed in his veins which helped him to overcome all obstacles and rise from the ground to reach the zenith of the sky.

The actor goes on to say, “Zameen pe toh kai Badshah hukumat karte aaye hain, par usne raaj kiya sabhi ke dilon par (A lot of kings have reigned the face of this earth, but he reigned over everyone’s hearts).“ Shah Rukh elaborated, “Halaat ki aandhiyon se utha, ek sachcha raja,” which roughly translates to – He’s a true king who emerged from the numerous storms of difficult situations thrown his way in his journey.
“Kaafi milti julti hai na yeh kahani? Par yeh kahani hai Mufasa ki,” SRK concludes, revealing that even though his own journey is quite similar, the story in the film is that of Mufasa. Watch the video here:
About Mufasa: The Lion King
While SRK has lent his voice to the character of Mufasa, Aryan Khan has lent his vocals to the character of Simba – Mufasa’s son. The movie also introduces AbRam Khan who will be heard as young Mufasa in the film. The film also features vocals of Shreyas Talpade, Sanjay Mishra, Meiyang Chang, and Makarand Deshpande for other characters.
Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, the film has been directed by Barry Jenkins. It is slated to hit the silver screens on December 20, 2024.
