Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, known for his meticulous approach to cinema and films, expressed his heartfelt admiration for the late legendary actress Sridevi at the trailer launch of the film Loveyapa. Reminiscing about the iconic actress, Aamir revealed how her presence left him mesmerized. “When Sridevi would come in front of me, I used to get tongue-tied, I couldn’t talk. I used to get mesmerized by her. She was amazing! I wish I had a chance to work with her,” Aamir said at the event.
Aamir also mentioned how he saw shades of Sridevi in her daughter Khushi Kapoor who co-stars with his son Junaid Khan in Loveyapa. “I already watched the film, and when I see Khushi in the film, it reminds me of Sri. She used to be an introvert like Khushi. Sri had that quality. If you met Sri, you might think she was bored because she would sit aside, in a corner of the room, quietly. But the moment the camera started to roll, she would have a different energy altogether and one would wonder if it is the same person who was sitting silently and unnoticed in a room full of people! I see that Khushi has inherited some of Sri’s habits and I wish her all the best for the film.”
Aamir’s regret at never collaborating with Sridevi resonates deeply with fans of Indian cinema, as both the actors have been celebrated for their impactful performances. Sridevi, often referred to as the ‘First Female Superstar of Bollywood,’ carved a niche for herself with unforgettable roles in films like Chandni, Mr. India, Lamhe, and English Vinglish among others. Her ability to seamlessly blend comedy, drama, and romance made her one of the most versatile actresses in the history of Indian cinema. She was honoured with numerous awards, including a National Film Award, and was posthumously awarded the Padma Shri in 2013.
Meanwhile, the trailer launch event also marked the introduction of Aamir’s son Junaid in Loveyapa, a romantic comedy directed by Advait Chandan. The film, a remake of the 2022 Tamil hit Love Today, is set to release on February 7, 2025 in theatres. Produced by AGS Entertainment and Phantom Studios, the trailer launch also saw the presence of noted actors Ashutosh Rana and Kiku Sharda, who will be seen playing pivotal roles in the film.
