Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Aitraaz clocked 20 years of its release on November 12, 2024. The romantic thriller film gained the status of a cult classic, owing to the themes it explored. The movie, originally directed by Abbas-Mustan navigated concepts like marriage, infidelity, and sexual exploitation of men by women at workplace. The movie which was considered ahead of its time gathered immense appreciation and is also known as a landmark film in the career of Priyanka Chopra.
Now, 20 years later, the makers are all set to bring a new, and equally bold story to the screens with Aitraaz 2. If a report on Hindustan Times is to be believed then the sequel to the 2004 film is already in the works with Amit Rai, who helmed Oh My God 2 (2023).
Subhash Ghai, the producer of the 2004 film, was quoted as saying by HT, “I’ve heard a fantastic script from Amit Rai, the writer-director of Oh My God 2, which has been written as Aitraaz 2 now.” He shared that different studios have expressed interest in making the sequel.
Speaking about the theme of Aitraaz 2, the ace producer elaborated that the film will be tackling “another bold issue about today’s sex life with new values and new school of thoughts coming in.” He also shared that one can’t expect it to be just another social drama, “It has to have some strong and high notes,” he said.

Taking to his Instagram page, he shared a still of Priyanka from the 2004 film and made it official in the caption that Aitraaz 2 is happening.
So, have they finalised the cast of the sequel? Well, turns out that the makers are in the process of casting for the female lead. Ghai told the publication that they do have a wish list in terms of who they want to cast for the female lead but nobody has been finalised as yet. “It will be a bold role again which I am sure will get a lot of awards for the actor, as it did for Priyanka,” he told HT and added that the “sequel will be better than Aitraaz.”
