The nominations for the 97th Academy Awards have finally arrived. For a brief period, there was chatter about cancelling the Oscars 2025 due to the devastating LA wildfires. However, the latest announcement has put an end to all the rumours. Emilia Pérez has grabbed the most number of nominations, followed by The Brutalist and Wicked. Meanwhile, Anuja has also landed on the list of competitors in the Live Action Short Film category.
The Host of the Oscars 2025
The announcement about the nominations was scheduled to take place on January 17. However, the revelation took place after a small delay on January 23 due to the Southern California wildfire disaster. Conan O’Brien, who also lost one of his houses in the devasting occurrence, is set to host the prestigious event. Last year in November, The Academy declared the actor-comedian its host and officially shared a video on social media.

The 97th Academy Awards Nominations
The Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez starrer Emilia Pérez has got a total of 13 nominations, while Wicked starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh, as well as The Brutalist featuring Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce, have earned 10 nominations each. These three movies are also competing with each other in the section of Best Picture alongside The Substance which has Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley; Anora featuring Mikey Madison; A Complete Unknown starring Timothée Chalamet, Monica Barbaro and Elle Fanning; Dune: Part Two, which also has Timothée alongside Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Zendaya; Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini and Stanley Tucci’s Conclave, among others. On the other hand, Anuja, co-produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Mindy Kaling, Suchitra Mattai and others, has grabbed a place to compete in the Live Action Short Film category.

When and where to watch The Oscars 2025
The final voting for the competitors is set to be held between February 11 to18. The 97th Academy Awards event is scheduled to take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Meanwhile, the Indian audience can catch the prestigious event live at 5:30 am IST on Star Movie (TV) and Disney+ Hotstar (OTT).
