At the grand song launch event of the track Aami Je Tomar 3.0 from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Vidya Balan finally broke silence on why she refused to be a part of the second installment of the horror-comedy franchise. Directed by Anees Bazmee, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starred Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani in the leads. The makers of the film wanted Vidya to be a part of the second film but at that time, the actress had refused the offer.
While interacting with the media persons post the song launch event, held in Mumbai on Friday, Bhushan Kumar – who has produced the third part, revealed that Vidya had declined the offer to work in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). So when they were about to launch the 2022 film’s trailer, they requested her to be a part of the same in spirit and so she had shared its trailer on her social media pages. Later, when the second film released, Vidya loved it and promised to be a part of the third installment.
Vidya herself cleared the air and shared that she was too scared about the sequel to the OG Bhool Bhulaiyaa that released in 2007. She said that even though she wanted to work in the sequel, she was quite apprehensive that in case she made a mistake, everything that the first film and she’d earned will go down the drain.
“I was so scared because Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has given me so much. I said, ‘Maine gadbad kar diya toh sab paani phir jaayega.’,” she clarified and added, “I’d told Anees bhai that I can’t take the risk.” So what made her change her mind for the third part?
When the makers went back to her for the third installment, Vidya loved the script and she was “dying to work on this with Anees Bhai and Bhushan (Kumar)” and it kept on getting better with Madhuri Dixit too joining the ensemble cast. She added that she somehow gathered the courage to do the film and had a great time shooting for it.
Vidya even called Anees Bazmee ‘the king of entertainment’ and termed her experience on the film as ‘magical’. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 also stars Tripti Dimri, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, and Ashwini Kalsekar among others. The movie is scheduled to be released in theatres on November 1 where it will clash with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
