The frenzy of Pushpa 2: The Rule at the ticket windows is yet to be over but Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Srivalli in the Pushpa franchise, is already gearing up for her next film. On Monday, the teaser of her upcoming release titled The Girlfriend was dropped on digital platforms. Vijay Deverakonda, who she’s rumoured to be dating, has not only given the voiceover for the teaser, but also unveiled it to the world on his X account.
Sharing The Girlfriend teaser, Vijay mentioned that he loves “every visual of this teaser.” He also shared his excitement to witness the film unfold, while adding that Rashmika “has been a lucky charm” for a number of actors as she was a crucial part of their “biggest successes.” Vijay further shared that even though Rashmika has grown immensely, she still remains the same person he’d “met on sets 8 years ago,” and wished her success on her first film as a solo lead. The teaser video of The Girlfriend opens with shots of Rashmika moving her luggage into a college hostel. The subsequent scenes give a few glimpses of her adjusting to her college, studies, and presumably hostel life as well. The teaser also offers a peek of Dheekshith Shetty, who plays her love-interest in the film. Though, not much can be deciphered about the movie’s plot from the teaser, it is apparent that her character is facing some issues in her love-life and is struggling in her relationship.

The film’s teaser video was attached to Allu Arjun’s much awaited release Pushpa 2. Reportedly, the movie is in the final leg of its shoot and production. However, it’s release date hasn’t been announced by the makers yet. Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, the movie has been presented by Allu Aravind and its music has been composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. Also starring Rao Ramesh and Rohini, the film has been produced by Dheeraj Mongilineni and Vidya Koppineedi.
