Panchayat 4: it’s time to return to Phulera as shooting begins for new season of the Prime Video series

Prime Video has shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set on its Instagram handle

Filming begins for Panchayat Season 4

Easily one of India’s most popular comedy drama series – so much so that it also found a mention in the parliament during a speech by RJD MP Manoj Jha – Panchayat is set to return with a new season. Amazon Prime Video has announced the commencement of filming for Panchayat Season 4 with a picture of all the cast members, as they return to ‘Phulera’.

The update was shared on Prime Video’s official Instagram handle, along with a few behind-the-scenes photos from the set. The caption read: “Aye Butkun, 4 cup chai bol diya jaaye 😉4️⃣ #PanchayatOnPrime, Season 4 Now Filming.” Responding to it a user wrote, “This is the best news for my father today. He is one of the biggest fan of this series. Hi ranks this series with his all time best movies like Jane bhi do yaron, serial like ramayan by Ramand Sagar. Thank you TVF for making my father happy with this (sic).”

Written by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Akshat Vijaywargiya, it’s the story of an engineering graduate (played by Jitendra Kumar), who on not finding a suitable job for himself travels to a remote village in Uttar Pradesh, to take charge as a panchayat secretary, whos is often referred to as the the endearing sachivji. The series also features Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Faisal Malik and Sunita Rajwar in the lead. Music for the popular series is composed by Anurag Saikia, which by itself has a separate fanbase.

Apart from India, the show is viewed by audiences across 240 countries and territories around the world. Produced under the banner of The Viral Fever (TVF), Panchayat Season 4 promises more heartwarming humour, endearing moments and relatable drama. Durgesh, who plays Bhusan, in the series has shared a picture from the set on his Instagram page and captioned it, “Dekh Raha Hai Binod?” – one of the show’s most popular dialogues.
