Following a resounding success of Oppenheimer at Oscars 2024 – including the ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Actor’ awards – Christopher Nolan is already working hard on his next project. The acclaimed filmmaker recently made headlines after it was announced that his yet-to-be-titled next movie will star Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Well, speaking of the latest, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are now joining the cast.
This would mark Anne’s third collaboration with Christopher. She previously acted in The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and in Interstellar (2014). Meanwhile, it’s Zendaya’s first film for the filmmaker. The new movie is expected to have an Imax release on July 17, 2026. Shooting is likely to begin in early 2025. The details are yet to be officially confirmed.
Anne – who was last seen in Benoît Delhomme-directed psychological thriller film Mothers’ Instinct alongside Jessica Chastain – spoke about landing the role of Brand in the epic science fiction drama movie Interstellar in an interview with Vanity Fair. She said, “A lot of people wouldn’t give me roles because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online. I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve had in one of the best films [Interstellar] that I’ve been a part of.” Meanwhile, Zendaya recently starred in Dune: Part Two, an epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve, along with Timothée Chalamet.
When asked about his next film as a follow-up to the Cillian Murphy-starring Oppenheimer, Christopher reportedly said, “I think you can’t worry too much about the relationship of one film to the next. I get bored very quickly, I like to keep working. It’s exciting to think about what’s next.” The epic biographical thriller film written, directed and produced by Christopher also featured Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh in the lead.
