On Thursday, Karan Johar announced the next film from his banner Dharma Productions by sharing the first look posters of the movie on his Instagram page. Titled Chand Mera Dil, the film will star Ananya Panday and Lakshya in the lead. Directed by Vivek Soni, the romantic-drama will be released in theatres in 2025.

Sharing the official posters of the film, Karan Johar wrote in the caption, “We have two chands ready to bring an intense & passionate love story like no other!!!”. Chand Mera Dil posters feature the fresh pair of Ananya and Lakshya, who will be seen sharing the screen space together for the first time. The posters highlight their easy flowing and breezy chemistry with each other while featuring the film’s tagline “Pyaar mein thoda paagal hona hi padta hai,” quite prominently.

While not much is known about the story of Chand Mera Dil, going by Johar’s teaser post for the official announcement, it seems that it is going to be a passionate love story coupled with impressive music. In his post on Wednesday, Johar mentioned that his production house is known to have told love stories with a lot of passion and compassion. He added, “We try and tell love stories that deeply resonate with an audience and also entertain them with music that is everlasting … After a while we are back with a love story with a young cast and we are over the “moon”…. “ asking netizens to keep an eye for the official announcement which came in the form of Chand Mera Dil on Thursday.

Ananya Panday seems to be on a roll. After the box office debacle of Liger in 2022, the actress has tasted success with her last three outings – Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023), Call Me Bae (2024), and CTRL (2024). On the other hand, Lakshya made his Bollywood debut with Dharma Productions’ action film Kill (2023). His debut was first announced with Dostana 2(2019) alongside Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. However, the film got shelved due to creative differences between Karan and Kartik. Post that, he was slated to make his debut alongside Shanaya Kapoor and Gurfateh Pirzada in Bedhadak (2022) which was also put on the backburner. Finally, he made his cinematic debut with Kill(2023) and got a lot of appreciation for his performance in the role of a commander in army.
Chand Mera Dil marks Lakshya’s second outing with Dharma Productions. The film will be helmed by Vivek Soni, who has earlier directed Meenakshi Sundareshwar(2021) that starred Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani. Though the movie is slated to hit the theatres in 2025, the official release date of the film hasn’t been announced yet. Watch this space for more updates.
