Freedom at Midnight trailer: Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra’s web series to witness disarray amid India’s independence

Malishka Mendonsa, Rajendra Chawla, Luke McGibney, Arif Zakaria and Rajesh Kumar play crucial characters in the upcoming OTT show.

Freedom at Midnight is an upcoming historical drama series based on the time of India’s independence and partition in 1947. The upcoming OTT show stars Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra and Malishka Mendonsa as pivotal characters among others. After a few promo videos, the makers have released the official trailer giving a glimpse of the high-voltage chaos that takes place during the most sensitive time of the country.

The trailer begins with a speech by the then Prime Minister of the UK announcing the decision that has been taken by the government of England about handing over all the “responsibilities” to the people of India. Moving on, a young lady rushes to Mahatma Gandhi (Chirag) and informs him that in six weeks, on the 15th of August, India will have independence. Another politician aggressively converses with his fellow mates about serious concerns including religious riots, and division of the country.

Sidhant portraying Jawaharlal Nehru mentions, “Division based on religion is the British way, staying united is ours (India).” On the other hand, Arif Zakaria as Mohammad Ali Jinnah seems to acknowledge a group of people and cites, “We want an independent, sovereign Pakistan and we will settle for nothing less.” Furthermore, Malishka emerges in the role of Sarojini Naidu. The RJ-actor delivers a powerpack dialogue talking about Mahatma Gandhi and his power. Meanwhile, Rajendra Chawla appears as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Release date of the show

Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra, Malishka Mendonsa, Rajendra Chawla, Luke McGibney, and Arif Zakaria play pivotal characters in the much-awaited show. Meanwhile, the Nikkhil Advani directorial also has Rajesh Kumar, Cordelia Bugeja, Ira Dubey, Ahalya Shetty, Guy Pinsent, K.C. Shankar, Andrew Cullum, Alistair Findlay, Ed Robinson and Richard Madison in key roles. Freedom at Midnight premiere on November 15 on SonyLIV.
