After teasing the fans with Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film Chhaava‘s teaser, the makers finally unveiled the trailer of the much awaited release. The three minutes nine seconds-long teaser is full of breathtaking visuals, impressive battle scenes, and seeti-maar dialoguebaazi.

Chhaava trailer
The trailer of Chhaava begins by informing the viewers that after the demise of the great Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Mughal Sultanate lead by Aurangzeb (Akshaye Khanna) is now eyeing the throne of the Maratha kingdom. Shivaji Maharaj’s eldest son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (Vicky Kaushal) wows to protect the kingdom from the attack of the Mughal Empire and fulfill the dream and vision of Swaraj (self-rule) of his late father.

Going by the stunning visuals of the trailer, it seems evident that Vicky has embodied the spirit of his character quite well. He roars fearlessly as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in multiple scenes of the trailer. It also seems that he’s been attributed some intensely heavy and loaded dialogues and he seems to deliver them with the required ferocity. There are times when one might even get goosebumps, especially in the war sequences, watching him deliver such a high-octane performance.

Akshay Khanna as the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb looks unrecognizable and gives all the menacing vibes. What we see in the trailer seems to be just a glimpse of what’s in store in the film. We like his subdued but threatening dialogue delivery as an aged emperor presents a sharp contrast to the youthful fierceness of Sambhaji which stands out. Rashmika Mandanna too makes a brief appearance as Sambhaji Maharaj’s dutiful wife Yesubai Bhonsale. Though she looks the part, her diction seems to be all over the place – at least in the trailer. While the visual effects seem questionable in a couple of scenes of the trailer, we hope they don’t disappoint when watching the film on the silver screens.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, the film is reported to be adapted from the Marathi novel titled Chhava, written by Shivaji Sawant. Chhaava release date
While the film was initially set to hit the theatres in December last year, it was postponed to avoid a box office clash with Allu Arjun’s much awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule. However, Chhaava is now all set to release in theatres on February 14, 2025.
