War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, marks the most anticipated action thriller film of the year. Yash Raj Films has recently announced the release date of the upcoming movie in a quirky social media post. Written by Abbas Tyrewala, the Ayan Mukerji directorial is set to have a theatrical release worldwide on August 14.

The production giant recently took to its official X (formerly Twitter) handle and shared a fanmade video about War 2 with a quirky caption that reads, “Must say… you have set it up brilliantly even before we have started our marketing of #War2 … there will be mayhem in cinemas on 14 August 2025, worldwide… (sic).”

About War 2
Hrithik as Major Kabir Dhaliwal will return in the forthcoming film to go on a dangerous undercover mission and fight against a new threat to the nation. While War also featured Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor in major roles, the upcoming instalment is set to witness Jr NTR and Kiara Advani as key characters alongside the lead actor. War 2 marks the direct sequel to the 2019 movie and the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger and Pathaan among others.

While the official teaser and posters of the highly anticipated film are yet to be out, Hrithik’s first look in War 2 has already been unveiled. In the post-credit scene of Tiger 3, the fans witnessed a small but engaging fighting sequence featuring the War star. He was seen donning a serious and stunning look in an all-grey hairstyle.
YRF Spy Universe
After the series of six action-thriller films, including Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2023), Tiger 3 (2023), and this year’s upcoming War 2, Yash Raj Films has also added Tiger vs Pathaan starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, and the Alia Bhatt and Sharvari starrer Alpha in the pipeline. The latter marks the first female-led YRF Spy Universe film.
