
Val Kilmer, known for his unforgettable performances such as Jim Morrison and Batman, died at 65 due to pneumonia. The veteran movie star took his last breath on April 1 in Los Angeles. The Hollywood celebs and fans remembered the great artist and paid tribute on Tuesday following his demise. Val’s daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed to The New York Times about her father’s death and also added that the iconic actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but later recovered.
The tribute of fans and celebrities poured in for the late actor on social media platforms. While many remembered Val’s iconic roles such as Batman, some spoke about his other extraordinary characters in Hollywood movies and called him an Oscar-worthy performer. One of the tweet reads, “Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone was Oscar-worthy. Kilmer fully-committed in every way, down to his weight loss. I can’t picture anyone else as Doc Holliday (sic).”

A film named Val documents the legendary artist’s journey in life and focuses on his extraordinary career. Not just his profession, but the American documentary movie also includes the footage that Val shot himself on movie sets, along with his home, family and childhood videos. It also showcases his battle with throat cancer, from which he later recovered. It witnessed the world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021. Meanwhile, after a limited theatrical release, Val was out to stream on Prime Video in August of the same year.
Among many of his characters and films, the action drama Top Gun (which also stars Tom Cruise) as Lt. Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky, the biographical musical drama The Doors as Jim Morrison, and Batman Forever as Batman gathered him huge recognition and praise from around the world. The 2022 movie, Top Gun: Maverick, marks the final film of his career.
