The Boman Irani and Avinash Tiwary starrer The Mehta Boys is all set for a direct-to-digital release. After getting recognition at many international film festivals and winning the Best Feature Film Award at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, the family drama movie is set to make waves among Indian viewers. The makers have released a heartwarming official trailer showcasing a strained yet endearing bond shared between a father and his son. The anticipated film also marks Boman’s directorial debut.

The latest trailer introduces Boman and Avinash as a father-son duo who don’t seem to get along. After his mother’s unfortunate death, the young architect unwillingly invites his old dad into his Mumbai apartment to stay with him for a few days. Both the actors appear to be arguing over the smallest of the things happening around them and never agree with one another at any certain point whatsoever. But sometimes, especially in front of other people, the two try to co-exist.
Furthermore, the official video features the Bandish Bandits fame Shreya Chaudhry as Avinash’s love interest and Puja Sarup as his sister. Surprisingly, even after clashing constantly with his son, Boman appears to sync well with the latter’s girlfriend on many occasions.

Before the arrival of the official trailer, Avinash teased his fans with an official poster of the film. The latest image features him alongside Boman. Both of the men appear to be standing in front of the switchboards in two different rooms adjacent to each other. The Laila Majnu star shared the picture with a quirky caption that reads, “48 hours 2 people 1 epic story #TheMehtaBoysOnPrime, Feb 7 (sic).”

The Mehta Boys’ release date
Apart from directing the film, Boman has also co-written it alongside the Academy Award winner Alexander Dinelaris. The actor-first-time director has also co-produced the upcoming movie with Danesh Irani, Vikesh Bhutani and Shujaat Saudagar under the banners of Irani Movietone LLP production and Chalkboard Entertainment LLP. The Mehta Boys is slated to release on Prime Video on February 7, 2025.
