The highly anticipated Korean web series, Squid Game, is finally back with a sequel after three years. Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the upcoming show marks the return of Lee Jung-Jae, Wi Ha-joon, Lee Byung-hun and Gong Yoo among others from the first installment. According to the official trailer, Squid Game Season 2 is set to surprise audiences with new developments.
About Squid Game Season 2
Set three years after the events of the first season, the dystopian survival thriller follows the pattern of the deadly game, with the organisers luring a new set of contestants to compete with each other in the fatal competition for a huge sum. Meanwhile, last season’s winner Gi-hun (Lee Jae) is set to become a contestant again merely to save people’s lives by convincing them to leave the contest.

The latest official teaser gives a few crucial glimpses of the much-awaited series, showcasing the excitement among the new contestants. Gi-hun appears under dire pressure as he feels responsible for rectifying his mistakes by saving people’s lives, which he couldn’t do last time.

The cast of the show
Alongside Jung-Jae, Ha-Joon, Byung-hun and Yoo, Squid Game Season 2 is set to feature Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-Geun, Choi Seung-Hyun and Jo Yu-ri in pivotal roles with Kang Ae-shim, Lee David, Won Ji-an, Park Gyu-young, Kim Si-eun, Oh Dal-Su, Jeon Seok-ho, Roh Jae-won and Lee Jin-Wook in key characters.
Makers and release date
Created, written, directed and co-produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the highly awaited web series is bankrolled by Kim Ji-yeon, and Han Heung-Seok under the banner of Siren Pictures Inc. Meanwhile, the Parasite fame music composer, Jung Jae-il, has composed the score of the show. Squid Game season 2 is all set to stream on Netflix on December 26.
