The makers of Shahid Kapoor’s much awaited action drama titled Deva, unveiled the film’s teaser on Sunday amidst much fanfare. The 52-second long teaser showcases Shahid in a never-seen-before massy and raw avatar where his actions don’t even need any dialogues to build hype and excitement for the film’s release. His intense and powerful combat scenes, and fiery dance moves do the trick pretty well.
The teaser opens with visuals of Shahid on the dance floor, absolutely killing it with his feisty moves and expressions, completely owning the attention of the crowd that surrounds him. The visuals are interspersed with scenes of him in the character of a top cop, who definitely doesn’t believe in conforming to conventional methods in order to nab the perpetrators behind a crime.
Going by the teaser, it would be safe to say that the actor is all set to add a new dimension and redefine the persona of an angry young man on screen, taking it several notches higher than the OG Amitabh Bachchan. The makers also seem to subtly doff their hat to Big B with his image from Deewaar (1975) painted on a wall in the backdrop while Shahid leads the charge in front of it. While Shahid packs a solid punch in the action scenes, it is his mad energy and expressions on the dance floor that take away the prize as the highlight of the teaser.
We’ve already seen Shahid nailing his action packed avatar in Jio Cinema’s Bloody Daddy (2023), however, in Deva, he seems to have doubled his energy what with some nail-biting hand-to-hand combat sequences coupled with exhilarating action scenes and floor shattering dance moves.
The film also stars Pooja Hegde, who reportedly will be seen in the role of a journalist. Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana, and Kubbra Sait will also bee seen in the movie in important roles. Another highlight of the teaser is its explosive background score by Jakes Bejoy. The film’s music has been composed by Vishal Mishra.
Directed by noted Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, the film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Zee Studios. It is all set to hit the theatres on January 31, 2025.
