Actor Saif Ali Khan has sustained multiple injuries by an intruder during a robbery attempt at his and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra (West). According to reports, the incident took place around 2:30 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025. A statement from Kareena’s team confirmed the burglary attempt and mentioned that the rest of the family members including their sons – Taimur and Jeh, are fine.
Reportedly, the intruder had managed to enter the bedroom of the children around 2:30 am when one of the resident staff members woke up, shouted and alerted everyone. That’s when Saif woke up and made his way to the kids’ room, and ended up being embroiled in a scuffle with the intruder during which he sustained six injuries. As per a report on The Indian Express, the Mumbai police officials have confirmed that the actor’s home was intruded by an unidentified person. He had a scuffle with them post which he was injured and the intruder fled from the spot.
The statement from Kareena’s team read, “There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern,” reports publication.
Reportedly, one of the senior police officials also informed that one of the resident staff members also sustained some minor injuries during the incident. Both Saif and the staff member were admitted to the Lilavati hospital in the wee hours of Thursday morning around 3:30 am for treatment.
While speaking to The Indian Express, Dr Jalil Parkar from the Lilavati hospital confirmed that Saif was stabbed during the burglary attempt and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. He was quoted as saying by the publication, “Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his Bandra home and was brought in at 3:30 am. Saif has six stabs and two are deep. Of this, one is close to spine.” The actor is being operated upon by a top team of doctors. His emergency surgery began at 5:30 am and was still underway around 11 am (at the time of publishing) on Thursday morning. An update on the actor’s health is awaited.
One of the doctor’s, on the condition of anonymity, told the Hindustan Times that they’d found “a piece of knife in the body and the doctors are still examining the extent of damage.” The anonymous doctor also told the publication that the actor is “able to move his limbs, which shows that the spine is okay.” The COO of Lilavati Hospital, Dr Niraj Uttamani told HT that they will be able to validate the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done. He further informed that Saif has also sustained injury on his neck which is being evaluated as well.
A statement from Saif’s team read, “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing a surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”
As reported by India Today, all the members of Saif’s residence are being questioned by Mumbai Police officials who are present at the house. Sniffer dogs were brought in and Daya Nayak from the Mumbai Police too was present at Saif’s building for about half an hour. As per initial reports, the police haven’t found any unidentified person entering the building till at least two hours prior to the attack. The building’s guard also confirmed that he did not find any unidentified or suspicious person entering the building. While the family members have maintained that it was an attempted robbery incident, it is being investigated from all possible angles parallelly by the Mumbai crime branch.
As per reports, Kareena is in the hospital while Ibrahim Ali Khan and Sara Ali Khan (Saif’s children from his first marriage to Amrita Singh) too have reached the hospital to know about their father’s well being. Reportedly, Ibrahim was the first one to rush to Saif and Kareena’s residence and accompanied the injured actor to the hospital in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
